Condemnation Of Latrell Racist Abuse

Across the NRL there was universal condemnation of the racial abuse directed at Latrell Mitchell last night at Penrith Park.

On our live show this afternoon Grant Chappell said “We went down 16-10 in a game that was marred with a racial slur that was directed at our star fullback Latrell Mitchell. I can tell you here on Bunnies TV we don’t stand for any of that…disgraceful”.

I agreed saying “It’s a disgrace and the sooner we stamp this rubbish out the better”.

The father of a 15-year-old boy facing a life ban from the NRL for racially abusing Latrell told police his son “shouldn’t have said what he said.’’

Stamp Out Racism

“It’s just not on. I shouldn’t have to come here as a coach and lead a team of players in here to be racially abused.

“It’s not what our game is about. We have to stamp it out completely. Latrell is sick of it. And why wouldn’t he be? He should be able to come here as a star of our game and not be racially abused.

“Who cares what colour he is. It’s not on. I don’t understand how it happens in this day and age.” Jason Demetriou

“It’s just not on” a furious Jason Demtriou last night.

NRL boss Andrew Abdo said it took a lot of courage for Mitchell to call out the comments and encouraged others in the game to do the same.

Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly said racism has to stop. “It is inconceivable that we are talking about racism again in 2023″.

“He’s a role model for us and he’s paved the way, he’s broken the cycle,” St George Illawarra’s Jayden Sullivan on Latrell Mitchell.

“The fact is we deal with it. It’s not acceptable in our game and that’s all we can control. What comes out of your mouth, you control”. Wayne Bennett

“I heard Jason’s comments about banning him for life and as it should be, we have to stamp it out. It’s not about teams and who someone plays for this is a deeper issue and it’s unacceptable”. Trent Robinson

Say No To Racism

We stand behind Latrell Mitchell on Bunnies TV and love each and every one of our players that has pulled on the red and green jersey. That includes all our indigenous stars that have been fan favourites for generations.

I believe that the sooner this country embraces our rich indigenous culture, people and history, the better nation we will be. Every man, women and child deserves to treated equally, regardless of the colour of their skin. Say NO to racism for a brighter future for all Australians.
