Captains Run Number 1

Todays captains run was the first ever to be held at the Usana Rabbitohs Centre in Maroubra. Another slice of history captured live and free on Bunnies TV.

South Sydeny Sports Scientist Hayden Lamaro.

Today was my 3rd trip since Sunday to the venue and this time I was somewhat better prepared. I wore a members cap to cover my face from the sun due to the fact that there is no protection from the elements anywhere around the field.

This training session wasn’t open to the public with only only media invited. Building site fencing still surrounds the complex. The fence didn’t however, stop around 50 club fans from making their way to vantage points around the field. The fences are coming down tomorrow so fans will be able to watch as they please from now on.

Live & Free

I went live around 9.15am on Bunnies TV and while we waited for the team to come out onto the field I spoke to Bunnies TV viewers in our YouTube live chat.

The players soon began to emerge and our live stream continued for close to 40 minutes of exclusive footage.

During the broadcast Chaps arrived with our workmate Logan who played alongside Blake Taaffe on the Central Coast. Logan is a Souths fan but declined my invitation to add some guest commentary. This is fair enough because I realise that not everyone is keen to put on the headset.

JD & The Admiral

Once the session ended I had the pleasure of asking the esteemed Vice Admiral Mark Hammond a few questions. Admiral Hammond was there to talk about the Rabbitohs Anzac round jersey.

Rabbitohs Coach Jason Demetriou & Vice Admiral Mark Hammond.

Coach Jason Demetriou was up next and I asked a few questions about a number of the clubs injured players. These included Keaon Koloamatangi who has just had an operation on his ankle and Siliva Havilli who is back running and eyeing a return in the next 4-6 weeks.

A Flight Around The Park

I wrapped up my morning with an enjoyable flight around Heffron Park with the Bunnies TV drone. I parked in the Marcellin Fields car park in the north east corner. My flight then took a clockwise route around the park perimeter past the Heffron Centre and back to my starting location.

My landing path saw me fly right over the black dot of the nearby goal posts.
