Rabbitohs Redfern Report
The boy from the bush Ben Lovett trained with the first grade team this morning at Redfern.
Named 18th man, the Parkes Spacemen junior could become Rabbitoh 1189 on Saturday night at Accor Stadium.
Last week Blake Taaffe had been selected on the bench but was a late switch for Jed Cartwright. It appears that a similar late change will see a tough young back rower handed his debut.
A Bit Like Jai
When Grant Chappell asked Isaiah Tass about Lovett he said “He’s a damaging ball runner. He brings the aggression, he’s a bit like Jai (Arrow)..will come out there, be in your face and take the aggression to them if he gets on”.
The Lovetts
Ben’s dad John Lovett is a big fan of our Captains Run live streams. John lives in Parkes so he has thanked us on numerous occasions for allowing him to watch his boy live and free on Bunnies TV.
Ben’s sister Claudia works for the Rabbitohs. Just like her brother she is a huge asset to the club. Ben’s brother Kurt played hockey for Australia but is now having a run in the Bunnies NSW cup team.
You can be assured that the Lovetts love South Sydney. That love will never end if Benny takes the field on Saturday night against the Silvertails. If the expected debut doesn’t happen then I can guarantee you it won’t be long.
Other News
In other news from Redfern I filmed another Latrell Mitchell goal and shot a few brief clips down by the tunnel.
The legendary George Piggins was in the grandstand again so I went up and had a brief chat with my former coach.
Georges group included Jim, Peter and Paul Lahood plus Norm Lipson.
I’ll be away this Friday and Browny has to work so Chaps will be solo at the Captains run.
On Saturday night we will be hosting the post match show in the P&O Members Deck.
