Rabbitohs Junior Reps Round 4

By Steve Mavin for Bunnies TV.

A super Sunday awaits this weekend when all 4 of our junior representative teams will be in action at Redfern Oval.

The Harold Matthews Cup v Warriors clash is scheduled first at 10:00am. SG Ball Cup v Warriors will be next at 11:30am. Lisa Fiaola Cup v Bulldogs 1:30pm then Tarsha Gale Cup v Bulldogs 3:00pm.

Harold Matthews Cup – 10:00am Sunday 25th February – Rabbitohs (1-2) v Warriors (0-2-1)

Our Matts boys were not at their best on Saturday at Redfern Oval. Too many errors and dropped balls cost them any chance of victory against the Sea Eagles.

This Sunday they get a chance to add their 2nd win of the year against a Warriors side that have not won a game so far. Bailey Grey is out replaced at 7 by Tamoko Berryman-Duff. Kingston-Cruz Lake comes into the side at five eight. Dylan Alaalatoa comes into the 17, Amari-Jay Tangi drops back to 18th man.

SG Ball Cup – 11:30am Sunday 25th February – Rabbitohs (1-2) v Warriors (1-2)

A well deserved first win of the 2024 season came on Saturday for the Rabbitohs SG Ball team. Late inclusion Daniel Wright scored 2 tries for the Bunnies then Sione Lolohea, Yasin Kuscu and Jacob Fong all crossed for unquestionably good four pointers in the 2nd half.

A double for Daniel Wright.

A late 3 try surge from the Sea Eagles was cause for concern but the home side did just enough to secure the 2 competition points.

On Sunday Souths will be confident of making it 2 from 2 against a Warriors side that sits on the same 1 win 2 loss record as them. Yasin Kuscu is out, replaced in the backline by Lancelot Tovio. Penese Risali drops out with Daniel Wright taking his wing spot. Ryan Casey comes back into the second row for Sione Lolohea.

Lisa Fiaola Cup – 1:30pm Sunday 25th February – Rabbitohs (1-2) v Bulldogs (3-0)

Our Lisa Fiaola girls scored also notched up their first win of the season with a 6 tries to nil thumping of the Sea Eagles. Flying centre Kirrawahn Duckett scored a double, making it 4 tries from 3 games in 2024. Tahlya Dower crossed for a double of her own. Sienna Israel and Lani Anderson also scored tries.

Win number 1 for 2024.

On Sunday the undefeated Bulldogs will pose a real test for the home side. Keisha Marsh comes in at lock for Catea Duff. Jessica Brightwell comes onto the bench for TeAira Rehutai who moves back to the extended bench.

Kirrawahn Duckett has now scored 4 tries in 3 games.

Tarsha Gale Cup – 3:00pm Sunday 25th February – Rabbitohs (0-3) v Bulldogs (3-0)

Saturday saw another loss for our Tarsha Gale team. The Sea Eagles were just too good and powered to a big score against the winless Bunnies at Mascot Oval.

The task doesn’t get any easier on Sunday againt the undefeated Bulldogs. Keturah Matoe comes into the side at five eight. A backline shuffle sees Jaminey Weatherall switch to the centres and captain Ava Osland move to the wing for Chloe Beazley.

Jersey Flegg Win Trial

Our Jersey Flegg team scored some great tries and let none in on their way to a demolishion of the Sea Eagles. TJ Herring scored 2 tries and Kayde King powered his way over for a brillaint four pointer.

Sam Jinks scored a runaway try for the Rabbitohs.

U16s Developement Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles Report

On Sunday our 16s boys travelled up to the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen to take on the Sea Eagles. In hot conditions the Rabbitohs took control of the game and led from start to finish.

Malakai Schwalgar-Ioane had another excellent game, he’s a real attacking weapon with a clever offload. He’s a rock solid defender too. Khyanu Mahon and Clayton McGoon both scored good tries and half back Khan May played well. The Sea Eagles had no answer for big prop Elijah Maile who scored a double. Look out for this youngster as he progresses through the grades.

A big win by our 16s boys.
