Rabbitohs 2023 Season Launch

The 2023 South Sydney Rabbitohs season launch was held on Friday night at the Winx Stand Royal Randwick.

Grant Chappell is away on a family holiday so it was Darren Brown and myself who attended representing Bunnies TV.

It was an alcohol free night for both of us, turning our back on the plentiful amounts of Young Henry’s beverages on offer. Both of us chose the healthy option of sparkling water instead of the amber fluid.

Upon arrival we posed for a photo with Sam Burgess and said hello to Ray Martin. Members of the top 30 squad began to arrive so we hung around for a touch longer to capture some pictures and videos of the clubs stars.

Fun footage.

Once inside the venue there wasn’t a vacant table in sight so we just wandered the room chatting to the assembled crowd. This suited me fine because it allowed me to capture selected content from the venue.

Selected footage.

We didn’t take any of our video equipment so we could just enjoy the event and not look like we were working. I did however utilise my iPhone 14 and the result was at least something to share with our network.

We’ve been to a few of these season launches now and the highlight is always the players entrances. I selected a position near the doorway due to the light being the best in that spot then proceeded to record each player one by one as they were announced.

Cameron Murray spent time with sponsors & fans last night.

Host Jake Duke interviewed all the big names on stage and first up was coach JD with captain Cam. Trell Mit was up next with Cody, AJ and Cookie.

It was around this time that I went live and free on our Bunnies TV YouTube channel. The mobile phone footage was a bit shaky but I know that our channel subscribers and members were happy to be able to at least have a look.

During the night I chatted to Saliva Havili who told me he’s still another 4 months away from a return.

Jake Duke chats to Jason Demetriou & Cameron Murray.

Coach Jason Demetriou sounded genuinely excited for the year ahead. In particular he believes his captain, Cameron Murray could be in for an extraordinary season if he can stay healthy.

We munched on delicious canapés as we continued to make our way around the room, mingling with the top 30 squad who had joined the crowd to meet and greet.

We chatted to Dan from Young Henry’s, Shannon from the Rabbitohs and a lots of others before we headed to the ice cream stand to sample the wares.

The 2023 Rabbitohs.

The ice cream was so good that we made a 2nd visit before wrapping it up and heading home with bellies full of water, Peking Duck. Meatballs & sugar. At least there was no grog in that mix.

  • Great stuff Mavo and Brownie! Very cool that the fans who don’t get to go to these things get to have a good look in. No hangover always a massive pus too!
