Payne Haas is finally in Rabbitohs colours. South Sydney’s star recruit was at Heffron Park on Friday morning, 6 November, wearing his new training gear as the club began its first official pre-season session ahead of 2027.

There he is in the dark green VSP Security Wholesale training shirt, black Rabbitohs shorts and South Sydney cap, standing alongside CJ Moxley from the Rabbitohs Report.
CJ caught up with Payne at training and kindly gave Bunnies TV permission to share his photo. Thanks for the great shot, mate.
There was a change of training ground on the first morning. The main field at the Heffron Centre was closed for turf maintenance, so the boys trained on another field out the back at Heffron Park.
From The Burrow Cafe to the Training Field
Only a fortnight ago, Haas was spotted at The Burrow Cafe chatting with members of the Souths Players Association. Now he’s back at Heffron in his new club gear.

Payne Haas • Career So Far
Haas arrives from the Brisbane Broncos, where he won the 2025 NRL premiership. The NSW State of Origin and international prop has been one of the game’s leading front-rowers for years, collecting multiple Dally M Prop of the Year awards along the way.
Payne came through the Woodberry Warriors and Keebra Park State High School before joining Brisbane’s system. He made his NRL debut against the Rabbitohs in round eight of 2018 and finished with 159 games and 16 tries for the Broncos. His representative record includes 19 State of Origin appearances for NSW and Tests for both Australia and Samoa. He also collected six Broncos Player of the Year awards during his time at the club.
His move to South Sydney also reunites him with Wayne Bennett, who coached Haas during his early years at Brisbane. The Rabbitohs confirmed his signing in February, with Haas contracted for 2027 and 2028 and holding an option for 2029.
Payne’s off-season hand surgery ruled him out of Samoa’s Rugby League World Cup campaign, but he has already begun settling into life at South Sydney.
His first NRL appearance in the red and green is still ahead of him. For now, Rabbitohs supporters have their first proper look at Payne Haas in the club’s training colours.
