Cody’s Try Streak v Panthers
Cody Walker has scored in 4 straight games against the Panthers. He’s scored 9 tries in 15 games against the Mountain Men including one of the great individual grand final tries in recent memory.
But his try impressive scoring feats against Penrith has not resulted in a lot of success. Only 4 wins in 15 attempts against the NRL juggernauts. Cody’s relatively quiet game last week by his standards sets him up for a big one tonight at Blue Bet Stadium.

The Panthers Are Desperate
The Panthers are coming off consecutive home ground losses for the 1st time since 2018 and will be looking to get their season back on track. Both defeats were only by 1 point however in both games they were out of the contest for long periods before storming home only to fall short 13-12 on both occasions.
Injuries
The win over the Sharks on the weekend came at a cost with Junior Tatola and Jai Arrow unavailable this week. Junior was the victim of a head clash and should be ok to play against the Roosters next week. Jai sustained a hamstring injury at the 20 minute mark and will only miss 2 weeks.

The Return Of Jed Cartwright
Souths welcome back former Panther Jed Cartwright from injury. Cartwright hasn’t played since round 23 last season. Jed is the son of Penrith legend John Cartwright who played in the clubs maiden premiership win in 1991. Jed has never played against his dads old team in Penrith. Cartwright has had an injury plagued career playing only 16 games in 5 years.

Genuine Rivalry
This clash has become a spiteful contest over the past few years. The Panthers have knocked out the Rabbitohs in 3 consecutive finals series dating back to 2020. There is no doubt, all things considered Penrith are still the bench mark of the competition. Boasting at least 10 internationals in their line up.
The Rabbitohs will be looking to turn the tables tonight and continue an impressive start to 2023.
