The Highs & Lows of a Passionate Supporter
The first 11 weeks of the competition we were flying high. Top of the ladder. Off the back of winning 6 in a row including back to back to back wins against the Panthers, Broncos and Storm.
We were premiership favourites. We were all enjoying our footy. The betting agencies were asking when our next loss was coming?
Well it didn’t take long for that to happen. The very next week. Now they will start to ask when our next win will come?

1st To 8th
Since that run we have only won one of our past four games. Our defensive resolve disappeared. We have dropped from 1st to just clinging to 8th spot and in danger of dropping out.
How quickly things can change. All of a sudden going to work Monday morning with bragging rights, it’s now a case of keeping footy talk to a minimum.
Despite our previous run of losses, there was much hope yesterday that things would turn around. Despite not having Latrell, we had the likes of Cam, Cody and Tom return.
First half we looked better defensively. Hitting hard and forcing errors. Defending our line when we needed to. In attack we looked dangerous when we went to the edges for no reward. The kicking game let us down. Some very poor kicks took the pressure off.

Much Worse In The End
Then just before halftime Lachie Ilias put a small kick through in our own half that I can only describe as dumb. It gave the Cowboys one last chance. Luckily it was only a field goal. That field goal however could have been the difference. In the end it was much worse than that.
Still at halftime there was still hope. Only down by 5. Show up in the second half with the same defence of the first half and we stay in the game.
Down 17-0
It didn’t take long for that to go out the window. Poor efforts in defence and misses by Ilias and Walker all of a sudden we found ourselves down 17-0.
There was still hope but it was fading fast.
Errors early in the tackle count were creeping in. Throwing away chances to get back in the game. Time was ticking away and the hopes of a comeback were fading.
Finally a scrum close to their line and Ilias cut through to score. Was this the try to ignite us?
The next set you could see a lift in the boys. Rolling up the field. Then a poor pass from Cam to Tom and knock on. Wrong option taken by Cam. Then if the hope for a comeback was still alive then it only took another 5 tackles for that to go with Cam giving away a penalty on the last right in front.
No Comeback
Cowboys took the easy 2 to give them a 13 point lead. There was no comeback today. A further 2 tries to the Cowboys and that was our worst defeat of the season.
The boys lacked energy and looked flat in everything they did. They came back from the bye looking even more tired than they did before the bye. Our kicking game and our defence let us down.
Only a handful of players could hold their head high. Guys like Tatola and AJ didn’t let anyone down. The return of Tom Burgess as well. I also thought Keaon in attack troubled the Cowboys. A few errors in defence.
Where to?
Where to from here? A month ago we were looking at this Warriors game as one we would bank getting the 2 points. Now it is the other way around.
With no Latrell or Jai Arrow back until round 21, we need to get through these next 2 games. It’s now about how we turn it around from here.

Surely with the form of our NSW Cup side over the last 6 weeks there needs to be some fresh faces getting the call up? Guys like Ben Lovett, Tallis Duncan and even Tyrone Munro are banging on the door for a call up.
