Liam Le Blanc Excels in NRL Debut Amidst Strong Support

Ingham-born Liam Le Blanc made an impressive NRL debut for the South Sydney Rabbitohs against the Manly Sea Eagles on Saturday night at Accor Stadium, Sydney.

Liam is backed by a devoted group of friends and family. To mark the big occasion they all made the journey from North Brisbane to cheer him on. Liam’s rugby league journey began in Nundah, Brisbane. He played most of his junior footy for the North Devils before catching the eye of South Sydney scouts in 2021. His talent was further recognized as an Australian Schoolboys representative in Fiji in 2022.

Liam initially found the move to Sydney tough, leaving friends and family behind. However he now says “It’s been good…I’m loving it, it’s a great experience”.

Unwavering Support

Ahead of his debut, seven of Liam’s closest friends woke early to fly down from Brisbane to attend the Rabbitohs Captains Run. This highlighted their unwavering support. Le Blanc gained selection to replace the seasoned Cameron Murray, who was absent due to State of Origin commitments.

Liam’s preferred position is lock just like Murray.

Accordingly, Liam faced the challenge with composure. He had to wait until the second half before coach Ben Hornby sent him on as a replacement. His performance on the field was certainly solid in limited game time: making 11 tackles with a perfect efficiency rate and running for 39 metres.

Jai, Mum & Dad

Before the game Liam’s mum Nat Le Blanc told Bunnies TV “We just left the jersey presentation. Jai Arrow was supposed to hand him the jersey but he called myself and Liam’s dad Ben up to do the honours.”

The Le Blancs were there for Liam on Saturday night.

Described by those closest to him as genuine and quietly determined, Liam’s debut marked a significant milestone in his rugby league career. His supporters in the stands at Accor Stadium represented the values that define Liam—a journey marked by resilience, camaraderie, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
